A serious note (for once)…

Below is a message from Laura from the 1Xtra online team. Please forward on to as many people as possible. We didn’t manage to do it in time for DJ Swing; lets make sure we can for Sarah.

“I need some help please, my sister, Sarah is battling Leukaemia and urgently needs a bone marrow transplant. I’m trying to get as many people as possible to come along and and join the bone marrow regsiter, it involves a blood test and filling out a form.

Next date where people can register:

Wednesday 26th April
Waverley Secondary School,
Homestall Road,
London, SE22 0NR
2pm to 9pm

Within the black and mixed parentage community there is a unique health issue, which if we don’t respond to positively and immediately it could result in the death of many people and distress for those who are left behind. There are thousands of people who did not (or could not) turn up to the recent ACLT-Choice FM Registration Clinic which was meant to be a tribute to the late DJ Swing and so we urgently need your assistance to encourage more donors to come forward and register, because time is seriously running out.

There is a Bone Marrow drive taking place on Wed 26th April in Peckham on behalf of Sarah Thompson. The recently married young South Londoner has just relapsed with the Leukaemia returning in an aggressive manner. Because she is of Mixed Race origin her chances of survival by finding a matching Bone Marrow are at least 1 in 100,000 and upwards.

Please do the right thing and join the bone marrow register. Call the ACLT on 0208 667 1122

Thanks,
Laura x. “
