Any of you who check my WVFS mixes, or have downloaded the Elevator Music mix cd series should by now be familiar with the homie Depakote. His instrumentals sit in a little virtual crate of their own in my Serato set up, and are never far from a mix of mine.
His latest instrumental joint, “The Gummo Album” is now available for a free download, prior to an official release on Highpoint Lowlife Records. You see this? Why the Kobe pic? Well, about halfway through this mix I dropped the legendary 5 mic-classic “K.O.B.E.” by Mr Bryant, which features Tyra Banks on the hook. This being the Underground Railroad, and all, its important to let the listeners hear what a runaway train crashing into the buffers actually sounds like.
(Sidenote: We had a nice little discussion on this too during the show, but as lightning knocked my power out at home I lost all the show audio. This below is the backup audio, which just captures the sound from the turntables and mixer.)

(And for the record, just like Volume 1, I recorded this joint all in one take. Only additions after the mix were the elevator sounds at the front and back of the mix, and some volume normalization and compression to bring everything up to audio scratch.)
