HTIKMM: Stretch & Bobbito on WKCR

Home Taping Is Killing Music Month Presents : Stretch & Bobbito on WKCR (May 21st, 1993)

Stretch & Bobbito on WKCR (May 21st, 1993)

Y’all know what the deal is with the Stretch & Bob show on WKCR – where it happened, when it happened, what happened there, what it represented etc etc…

And if you don’t… this man can tell you…

This episode begins with an Akinyele cut where that thing he does with his voice on the end of every line gets extremely irritating extremely quickly (no Scooby Doo), continues with some no-mark group that freestyle quite badly, and then improves when RA The Rugged Man steps into studio for some tomfoolery. Music from Fat Joe, Grand Puba, Master Ace, the JBs, Run DMC, and more make this listenable to the end, where some kids called the Hooliganz come in and spit a quick but decent set of freestyles just before the tape runs out. (And nope, these are not the Soul Assassins-affiliated Whooliganz either.)

I’m waiting for my sister to hurry and up and mail me a box of tapes I left over in the UK when I moved over here – I know there’s a ton of shit in there that deserves sharing – Doo Wop tapes, Tony Touch tapes and a load of other stuff that I can’t even remember right now. Nevertheless HTIKM month will continue with what I have – if things get a little patchy towards the end of this month, then you know my sister needs a hurry up.
