This week we celebrated E-Zone’s 67th birthday, and the old geezer definitely tore it down on the 1’s and 2’s. I, meanwhile, played a shitload of party break records throughout the mix – Armand Van Helden’s royalty points got a hefty increase due to my hour on the tables. Oh, and rest in peace Gil Scott Heron.
Sundays means Diggin’ In The Crates means the best day of the week. Period.
Diggin’ In The Crates, live on Blazin’ 102.3 (05/22/11)
This mix happened during Mother’s Day weekend… my backlog of mixes is stacked. Tryna play catch up with getting these joints up. Staytuned.com
(What’s really weird to me is that many of the tracks that appear in this mix, also pop up in the WVFS mix that I just posted, despite them being a week and change apart. I guess when you’re winging it, your subconcious likes to lift familiar joints.)
With the release of the Beastie Boys new album, “Hot Sauce Committee Part 2”, it was only right that we paid proper tribute to the careers of the greatest clear rappers to ever do it. #TeamClearPeople

Diggin’ In The Crates Mix (05/01/11)
MERC & DJ A to the L came together to re-create a classic album in Hip-Hop history, A Tribe Called Quest’s “Midnight Marauders”. They added their own twist to the project and called it “Daylight Marauders”. The two hip-hop heads both agree that Tribe’s album is one of a kind and are using this project to extend a salute to just how much Tribe’s masterpiece meant and still means to them.
