Slightly out of sequence due to the Blazin’ mixes from 12/27 being on a more accessible hard drive, but better late than never. Last Saturday’s mix on the Underground Railroad featured new music from Joell Ortiz, Wiz Khalifa and Reflection Eternal amongst others, as well as the usual classic Hiphop fare. Jay-C and I then took over the Soul Show for 2 hours, and I’ve included the first part of that set, which is all James Brown tracks in tribute to last weekend’s anniversary of the Godfather’s passing.
A week late posting this due to various Christmas-related activities. This past weekend’s mixes from WVFS and Blazin’ 102.3 will be going up in a minute. For now, lounge to this as I bring you new music from Jay Electronica, Drake, Count Bass D and others before riding out with an impromptu bass set to close the show, then opening the first 15 minutes of the Soul Show cutting up breaks. Proper.
(No homo on the image above, but the original version showed up on a google search for ‘Back in action’. One time for all the chiropractors checking out the site.)
Man it’s been a minute since I got up to V89 and really let loose. I’ve had nothing on this site lately but mixes from the Blazin’ sessions on Sunday nights –
2 weeks ago, I bounced from Blazin’ 102.3, to V89, and back to Blazin’ 102.3 over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The outcome of the three days is directly below, for your audio pleasure (or displeasure.)
Three days of mixing below, means a fairly lengthy post split into three – so get your scroll wheel finger ready.
Another Leo birthday, another Lions’ Den show at the Underground Railroad. You know how we
roll roar. Tracklist under the fold.
DJ A to the L
The Underground Railroad, live on WVFS 89.7 (08/22/09)
New mixer in full effect. Dr Dre headphones in full effect. Birthday presents in full effect. With hearing and volume fully-restored to my audio, I took my toys up to the Underground Railroad to throw it down.
DJ A to the L
The Underground Railroad, live on WVFS 89.7 (08/15/09)
WVFS. DJ A to the L. Primo Set. With added requests. Yes. (Now with added Rapidshare download link.)
(I actually think this shit turned out pretty nice.)
DJ A to the L
The Underground Railroad, live on WVFS 89.7 (08/08/09)
Saving the digital trees by combining a full weekend of shows into one post. A to the L is for the environment. (Obviously this will make this a loooooooooooooong ass post, so exercise your scroll finger.)
Following the untimely death of Michael Jackson, it seemed that every DJ on every station was running an MJ tribute, or a collection of his tracks, to the point where shit was getting a little um… boring. So in the spirit of flipping the script, I tried to pay tribute to some living legends in the mix – Stevie, Bootsy and Clinton, and Prince all got run amongst the usual selection of bubblers. (Tracklist under the fold.)
With Acrojam heading to Atlanta to hang with Amond Jackson for ATL Hiphop Appreciation week last Saturday, it was left to the LIONS to come through and smash on the Underground Railroad. Isreal, Jay-C, and my damn self talking much shit, playing much music, and all that other stuff…
One time for the mixing mouse too…
